Biography

Reynolds Williams was born in Mullins, South Carolina on May 15, 1946

Reynolds Williams served in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge. While in law school, Williams received the American Jurisprudence Award in Contract law.

Williams served as Legislative Assistant to United States Congressman Ed Young and to Senator Strom Thurmond. From 1975 to 1977 he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney. Williams joined the Willcox Law Firm in 1977 and became its CEO in 1990.

He has been Chairman of many Arbitration Panels of the National Association of Securities Dealers, the American Arbitration Association, and the Duke Private Adjudication Center.

Reynolds is recognized as one of the Leading Lawyers in America and The Best Lawyers in America in the books bearing those titles and in 2008 was named one of South Carolina’s “Super Lawyers.”

In 1999 Governor Beasley awarded Reynolds the Order of the Palmetto, the State's highest honor, for his public service, civic responsibility, and friendship to South Carolina. In 2001 Williams was named Business Person of the Year by the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce. In 2008 the USC School of Law named him a “Compleat Lawyer” for 30 years of exemplary service.

Activities

Reynolds worked his way through law school as a television producer and director and has continued that interest as actor, director, and President of the Florence Little Theater, winning the Best Actor Awards in 1982 and 1985. Williams is a former Chairman of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce and President of the Florence Rotary Club. He has served on the School Board at All Saints and St. Anthony's, as Chairman of the Florence County Election Commission, on the Board of Directors of Florence County Progress, and several times as President of the Florence County as well as the South Carolina Republican Party Conventions. Williams was a Faculty Seminar Participant at the 1991 U.S. Army War College. Williams serves on the Board of Directors of IRIX Pharmaceuticals. He has served as Vice-Chairman of the State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education. A CFP®, Reynolds is capable and qualified to offer objective, integrated, and comprehensive financial advice to help individuals achieve their financial objectives. Williams was the first Chairman of the Investment Commission whose duty is to direct and determine the investments of the South Carolina Retirement System. The System's assets exceed $28 billion and in 2008 the S.C. Legislature, by a Concurrent Resolution, expressed the State’s gratitude for his leadership of the Commission.
