Robert Thomas King attended the University of Richmond, and received his B.A. in English from the University of South Carolina in 1990. He received his J.D. in 1993 from the Campbell University School of Law, graduating in the highest quarter of his class. While in law school, Rob was named to the Dean's List and received the Campbell University Book Awards for being the top student in both Juvenile Law and North Carolina Criminal Procedure.

He is admitted to practice in the State Courts in both South Carolina and North Carolina, in the United States District Courts for South Carolina and for all Federal Districts of North Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Rob is a member of the South Carolina and North Carolina Bar Associations, and the S.C. Defense Trial Attorneys Association. Rob is the Chairman-elect of the South Carolina Bar's Torts and Insurance Practices Section. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, and served as National Membership Chairman of its Governmental Liability Committee. Rob is a member of the Federalist Society and serves on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina chapter of the Federalist Society. He served on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc. 1998 - 2003. In 1999 Rob was appointed by the South Carolina Supreme Court to serve as an Attorney-to-Assist the Office of Disciplinary Counsel. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Pee Dee Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is an active athlete, and enjoys coaching youth athletics.
